SRC Newsletter – May & June 2023 Edition

By UCSRC

Greetings, University of Canberra students!

We hope this newsletter finds you well and ready for an exciting semester ahead. The past couple of months have been packed with planning and preparations for the upcoming semester, and we have some fantastic events and initiatives lined up for you. Here are the highlights:

Semester 2 Event: Employment and Tech

Mark your calendars for the biggest event of the semester! On the 31st of July at 1:30 PM, the SRC will be hosting an event centered around employment and technology. This event aims to provide valuable insights and resources to help you navigate the rapidly evolving job market. To secure your spot, please make sure to book in advance through the following link: https://events.humanitix.com/semester-2-src-town-hall. As an added bonus, there will be free food available for all attendees who have booked. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity!

Market Day and New Merchandise

We’re excited to announce that the SRC will be present at the upcoming Market Day. Look out for our stall on the University of Canberra concourse, where we’ll be showcasing our new range of free merchandise exclusively for students. Swing by, say hello, and grab yourself some cool SRC tote bags. We can’t wait to see you there!

IDAHOBIT Day

On May 17th, we proudly participated in IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, and Transphobia) Day. This important event aims to raise awareness and promote inclusivity and acceptance within our university community. We stand in solidarity with all members of the LGBTQ+ community and remain committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment for everyone in the UC community.

Mental Health First Aid Training for Student Reps

The well-being of our students is a top priority for us, which is why we recently organized Mental Health First Aid Training for our dedicated Student Representatives on committees and boards. Equipping our representatives with the necessary skills to support their peers is essential in creating a caring and supportive campus environment. We applaud the commitment shown by our reps and encourage everyone to prioritize mental health.

Communication and Outreach Training

Effective communication is vital in ensuring that we connect with and serve the student body effectively. Over the past months, we have conducted extensive training sessions focused on enhancing our communication and outreach strategies. We are continuously striving to improve our engagement with you, and we look forward to implementing these new techniques to better serve your needs.

That’s all for this edition of the SRC Newsletter. We hope you found this update informative and exciting. Stay tuned for more announcements, events, and initiatives in the coming months. As always, if you have any suggestions, feedback, or ideas, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Wishing you all a successful and fulfilling semester ahead!

All the best,

Jannis Heinzmann
